Jim Goodwin admits he used Republic of Ireland international prospects to help sell a move to Dundee United to Will Ferry.
The left wing-back has been a revelation for the Tangerines since moving north from Cheltenham Town, snubbing other interest in England to head for Tannadice.
He has proved to be one of the acquisitions of the summer in the Premiership for a side which has taken to life back in the top flight impeccably, and Goodwin is delighted by his impact.
Dundee United have only lost one league game and sit fifth as they look to challenge for European spots.

Ferry Dundee United form could lead to Republic of Ireland call-up
Former Aberdeen and St Mirren boss Goodwin is of the belief his countryman can earn a first cap for his nation off the back of his start in Scotland.
He reckons he has given himself a bigger chance than when playing in English League One and is looking to help him get there.
As reported by the Courier, he said: “I hope so. Ireland are in a transitional period with the new manager, and we spoke to Will about that. We highlighted that in the summer.
“He has a far better chance of breaking into that full international team playing in Scotland opposed to playing League One football in England.
“He recognised that and I’m sure it would be a very proud moment if the opportunity does arise.
“I have good contacts within the FAI (Football Association of Ireland) – people who are working close to the senior team. I am constantly updating them and keeping them in the loop.
“They are aware of the good progress these boys (Emmanuel Adegboyega and Ferry) are making.”
Ferry makes flying Dundee United start
“Will has been one of the outstanding left-backs and wingbacks in Scotland, when you look at his data,” added Goodwin. “On the platforms we use, he is in the top three for his position in the league.
“That tells you how well he is doing. He has been a breath of fresh air since he has come to the club. Everybody can see why we brought him here and hopefully he can continue his development.”
And the stats do indeed indicate that the 23-year-old has contributed effectively at both ends of the pitch.
According to FotMob, he has created more chances than 82 per cent of the Premiership, won more aerial duels than 75 per cent of the league and more defensive actions than 80 per cent.
Keep that up and an international call won’t be far off.
