Hearts cruised to victory in their second League Cup group stage match. One of the big positives Hearts will take from the game is the performance of Anthony McDonald.
The young midfielder started against Cowdenbeath at Central Park as the Jambos went on to win 2-0. He scored the winning goal against the Blue Brazil, his first competitive strike for the club.

Some Hearts fans were delighted for him.

McDonald can be a big player for Hearts this term
A loan move to Inverness last season has really helped McDonald. That exposure to regular first team minutes in the Championship has allowed him to pick up some form and hit the ground running at Hearts this term.
Against the Blue Brazil he was fantastic. His goal was well taken after a decent team move from Craig Levein’s side. McDonald nearly had a second late on with a lovely chip, but the Cowdenbeath goalkeeper somehow kept it out.

The Jambos youngster kept things moving at Central Park. Hearts really should have coasted it by four or five, but McDonald personally can be pleased with his performance. His passing was excellent and he posed a threat breaking forward from midfield.
He has to play a big part for Hearts this season. His recent displays show he has got the ability to succeed at Premiership level now.
All he needs is a platform to prove it.
