To say Hibs fan were gutted when John McGinn left last summer would be an understatement. He was the heart and soul of their midfield and has been a massive miss in the middle of the park this season.
He’s went from strength to strength with new club Aston Villa though, becoming one of the Villains’ better players. This has been proved in Aston Villa’s annual end of season awards, picking up two awards on the night.

The man nicknamed ‘Meatball’ scooped the Villains’ Supporters and Players’ Player of the season last night. It is just rewards for someone who gives his all for the cause.
Some supporters of his former club Hibs were buzzing for their former star man.
Ok, you've had your fun – can we have him back now please?!

The midfielder really should have won a third award too.
McGinn’s unbelievable strike against Sheffield Wednesday was beaten to goal of the season by Jack Grealish’s against Rotherham. Whilst this was a decent strike, McGinn’s was better.
Regardless, the fact the former Hibee has won two of these awards is outstanding. He has settled in quickly down south and looks set to play at the very top level one day.

He’s a regular feature and standout star for Villa now, but Hibs fans still dream of the day McGinn returns to Easter Road.
