Youssouf Mulumbu has returned home to the Democratic Republic of Congo after leaving Kilmarnock, the West Brom hero signing for FC Saint Eloi Lupopo.

The 34-year-old midfielder first joined Kilmarnock in 2017 after a 191-appearance spell with West Brom alongside a short Norwich City stint. He ended his third spell at Kilmarnock earlier this summer as the Rugby Park club were relegated to the Scottish Championship.

Mulumbu left Kilmarnock for the first time in 2018 for Celtic, returning on loan six months later before another permanent Ayrshire move last year. FC Saint Eloi Lupopo have confirmed he has signed a one-year contract after arriving in Kinshasa last week. Mulumbu has made 45 appearances for DR Congo.

A statement reads: “Youssouf Mulumbu is now Lupopo. The Congolese international has just signed with Football Club Saint Eloi Lupopo of Haut-Katanga in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“The ceremony was done in Kinshasa. Lupopo was represented by the new President Jacques Kyabula Katwe accompanied by Vice President Coco Mulong.”
