Jim Goodwin isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

The former St. Mirren defender had a reputation as a player as a hard tackler who was prone to complaining.

Since replacing Jack Ross in the dugout at Alloa in late 2016, Goodwin has been carving out an impressive reputation.

Promotion to the Championship in his first season exceeded most fans’ expectations.

With the Wasps now sitting five points clear of the relegation fight in the second-tier, Goodwin has continued the good work started under Ross.

As the only part-time team in the division, most expected Alloa to take Brechin’s place as whipping boys.

Despite this, Alloa sit above Falkirk and Partick Thistle and could still find themselves in the play-off mix.

Only eight points cover the gap from fourth to eighth, and Alloa will fancy their chances to pick up wins.

A team made up of cast-offs from around the league have left the Wasps with a point to prove.

The tight pitch at the Indodrill Stadium makes Alloa a difficult place to go and win.

Goodwin’s compact side’s make it an even tougher venue.

After 18 months in the dugout, Goodwin is quickly building an impressive reputation for himself.

It seems like only a matter of time before a bigger club comes calling for the Irishman.
