Hearts pulled off a great bit of business earlier today when they confirmed that Austrian midfielder Peter Haring has extended his Tynecastle contract – and it will take the Jambos a step closer to tying down Arnaud Djoum’s future.
Haring’s contract extension was confirmed by the Jambos earlier, and it now frees up manager Craig Levein to open proper talks with Djoum.

The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and Levein has previously said that fixing Haring and Steven Naismith up would take priority before attention would turn to Djoum.
Djoum has been one of Hearts best players this season as they have struggled with consistency and keeping the Cameroonian is a no brainer for Hearts.

Levein will be hoping the midfielder is keen to extend his stay in the capital but isn’t short of options if he decides his future lies elsewhere.
Teenage midfielder Harry Cochrane would be the obvious successor to Djoum in the Jambos midfield – and it might actually be a move that some Hearts fans would prefer.

With Haring’s future now settled though, it’s up to Levein to convince Djoum to stay in Gorgie as he looks to build on this season and climb up the table.
