Hearts striker Steven Naismith’s season looks like it could be over after reports he needs to see a surgeon over a knee problem – but should the Jambo’s withdraw their contract offer to the striker?
According to Edinburgh Live, Naismith will travel to see the surgeon who previously operated on him after limping out of the recent defeat by Celtic.

If the veteran striker needs to go under the knife, it will be the second time this season and, with both his Hearts loan deal and Norwich City contract up at the end of the season, leaves serious question marks about his status for next season.
Hearts confirmed they have made an offer to Naismith while there’s also an offer on the table from MLS for the 32-year-old.

But if there are serious concerns about his long-term fitness then it might be best for Hearts to withdraw their offer.
The former Rangers striker will almost certainly be one of the highest earners at Hearts if he signs a permanent deal.
Craig Levein’s side would be far better served using that elsewhere to strengthen their side.

While it’s clear Naisy has made a big difference to the Jambos, it he can’t stay fit then it would be a massive gamble.
He’s now had several knee surgeries over his career and it isn’t a great sign that he could need two in less than a year – even if they are relatively minor.
It might not be the most popular move for Hearts fans but it makes most sense for the team Levein can put out on the pitch.
