Andy Robertson’s international run in this set of Scotland fixtures is over after the national team captain and Liverpool left-back picked up a booking.
The Reds man featured for 90 minutes once again as Steve Clarke’s side beat Slovakia 1-0 in the Nations League. A goal from Lyndon Dykes secured a big win for sturdy Scotland in their quest for World Cup 2022 qualification.
It sets up a meeting with Czech Republic on Wednesday as the national team aim to stay top of their Nations League group. But it’s something they’ll have to contest without their Liverpool star.
Robertson picked up a booking against Slovakia. He kicked the ball away in frustration during the second half, leading to a yellow card being raised above his head. It now means he is suspended for the Czech clash.
Liverpool may be quietly pleased about this with a massive Merseyside derby against Everton at the weekend coming up, Robertson now having a full week to rest and prepare for it.
The Scotland captain though will no doubt be a bit gutted not leading his nation into what will be another big game.
