Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour is hopeful that Scotland’s Euro 2020 appearance can be ‘the first of many tournaments over the coming years.’
The 20-year-old had a rollercoaster Euros, Scotland eliminated at the group stage after defeats to Czech Republic and Croatia. Gilmour was Man of the Match in his only appearance, a 0-0 draw with England at Wembley, but the Chelsea midfielder caught Covid-19 in the aftermath. It was Scotland’s first major finals since 1998.

Now being linked with loan moves away from Chelsea next season, Gilmour said of his time at the Euros on social media: “Unbelievable experience to play in my first major international tournament over the past couple of weeks.
“We hope this is the first of many tournaments over the coming years… You all deserve it and we hope to make you proud in the future. Thank you Scotland.”
