Billy Gilmour watched his Chelsea stock grow last night as Frank Lampard once again showed his faith in the Scotland starlet.
The youngster has enjoyed a fast rise under the Stamford Bridge legend’s watch this season. He was given a Premier League debut earlier this term and started a couple of games in the Carabao Cup, including one start against Manchester United.
Most recently the Chelsea boss moved Gilmour into the first-team dressing room permanently after the teenager’s terrific youth performances. The next stage of his development occurred last night.
Gilmour was given the fantastic experience of being involved in a Champions League knockout tie. Lampard named the Scotland youth international on the bench for this crucial fixture.
Unfortunately the midfielder wasn’t able to get on the pitch as Bayern Munich handed out a 3-0 defeat to the Blues in London. Goals from Robert Lewandowski and two from Serge Gnabry sealed defeat for Gilmour’s side.
It would still have been another learning curve for him in his development as the Scotland starlet’s Chelsea progression continues.
