Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour has tested positive for Covid-19 in a huge blow for Scotland manager Steve Clarke.

The 20-year-old Scotland talent made his international debut against England on Friday and won Man of the Match in the Euro 2020 stalemate at Wembley. But now the Chelsea player will miss Tuesday’s deciding match against Croatia after catching the virus.

No close contacts have been established. This is the second time a Scotland player has caught the virus during Euro 2020 camp, John Fleck catching it prior to warm-up matches with Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Scotland have one point heading into the final Euro 2020 group stage match against Croatia, following a defeat to Czech Republic last Monday and the 0-0 draw with England. Victory at Hampden on Tuesday should be enough to see the nation through to the knockout stages of the Euros for the first time, but Chelsea man Gilmour won’t be there.
