Norwich City captain Grant Hanley has been forced to pull out of the Scotland camp.

The Canaries skipper was set to bolster Steve Clarke’s side in a 27-man squad that is looking to secure major tournament qualification for Scotland for the first time since 1998.

Hanley hasn’t featured much for Scotland in recent seasons, his last appearance coming against Costa Rica in 2018. The Norwich City captain has 29 caps for his country.

Clarke won’t have him to call upon over the next week as he misses out through injury. It’s a blow for Hanley as he misses the chance to be part of potential footballing history in Scotland, the country vying for a spot at Euro 2020.

It’s unclear whether Clarke will now call upon reinforcements to bolster his squad. Last time out, Hibs pair Paul McGinn and Paul Hanlon were called up, alongside Aberdeen stalwart Andy Considine.
