John McGinn has taken to Instagram to deliver an important message to his followers.
The Aston Villa and Scotland midfielder is currently waiting for his comeback from injury. He had fractured his ankle back in December and was set to make a return at the end of this month.
But that’s been shelved for now as the country goes into lockdown as a way to help limit the spread of Covid-19. The Aston Villa battler has urged people to stay indoors via social media.
“I’m sure we’ve all noticed things going around at the weekend of social gatherings, especially young people going out in big groups,” said McGinn.
“Try and follow the guidelines as best as you can. Stay home and stay safe, for everybody’s sake.”
Has to happen
Having influential people like McGinn promoting messages of self isolation and government guidelines is key. Their audience will likely take on board those key sentiments.
For McGinn, this enforced shutdown couldn’t have come at a worse time. Just as he was getting back into action, the virus spread kicked in.
But he’ll be well aware that there are bigger things to worry about just now.
