Liam Cooper is still injured from his Scotland exertions it would seem as he misses another Leeds United match.
The Elland Road skipper played a vital role in Scotland’s victory over Israel that booked a place in a Euro 2020 play-off final with Serbia next month. But it came at a cost.
Playing 120 minutes in that match earlier this month, Cooper picked up a muscle injury, suffering a thigh strain. It meant he couldn’t compete in the next two matches against Slovakia and Czech Republic.
He returned to Leeds United and was expected to miss Monday night’s match with Wolves. Surprisingly, he was named in the starting XI, but headed down the tunnel before kick-off holding his abductor.
And now he is missing from Leeds’ XI as they face Aston Villa this evening. It’s a big blow for Marcelo Bielsa as he is again left without his captain for an important match.
Scotland boss Steve Clarke will be hoping the Leeds United man hasn’t picked up anything serious ahead of a crucial month, Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck already a doubt.
