The Liverpool hero’s son might have Aston Villa man John McGinn as his favourite player – but Andy Robertson says it’ll be nice to fulfill the dreams of children this summer.
Scotland take to Euro 2020 this summer, the nation’s first major tournament since 1998. Robertson has won the Premier League and Champions League in recent seasons with Liverpool but he knows how big this is too, even if Aston Villa midfielder and Scotland teammate McGinn is a big influence in his own house.

The Scots captain said (4-4-2): “Rocco loves football and knows a lot of the players. I’d love to say I’m his favourite player, but I’m not. That of course is Super John McGinn. I’m sure most people in Scotland would pick him so I can’t fault that. I miss the family when I’m away on international duty but he understands why I’m away.
“He talks to a few of the lads on FaceTime. He loves that. He also loves his sticker book – it’s my way of teaching him who everyone is. It’s good that, like me, he can watch Scotland in a tournament at a young age. I just hope he doesn’t have to wait as long for the next one.
“We’re all effectively wee boys who grew up kicking a ball around in different parts of Scotland. We all loved the game, we all had big dreams, and everyone took different paths to get here. We’ve all worked hard to get where we are, so we deserve to enjoy the feeling. It’ll be great to have the full nation behind us.”
