Manchester United have put Scotland star John McGinn on a transfer watchlist as the Old Trafford club weigh up their summer business (Athletic).

While not a primary target as of yet, Manchester United are said to be keeping tabs on the Aston Villa midfielder. McGinn is highly-rated by Old Trafford technical director and fellow Scotsman Darren Fletcher.

A move to Manchester United for McGinn would see the midfielder link up with Scott McTominay, the pair likely to play starring roles in Steve Clarke’s Scotland midfield during Euro 2020 this month.

It would likely take a massive bid to take McGinn away from Aston Villa. Manchester United interest in McGinn was first reported in 2019 and it was suggested that a fee as big as £50 million would be needed to sign the midfielder (Sun).

McGinn joined Villa in 2018 after starring for Hibs in the Scottish Premiership, following time in the St Mirren academy and first-team. He has gone on to help Dean Smith’s side earn promotion from the Championship, the Scotland midfielder now a regular at Premier League and international level.
