Scotland manager Steve Clarke has sent a message to a player he knows he can ‘rely on,’ Norwich City star Kenny McLean.

The midfielder scored the winning penalties that have taken Scotland to its first major tournament since 1998 this summer at Euro 2020. But he will not be going after suffering a knee injury on the final day of the English Championship season with Norwich City.

McLean will miss 12 weeks of action following ligament damage in the Norwich City draw with Barnsley, ruling him out of the major competition. Clarke has wished him a speedy recovery.

He said: “Kenny is a player I know I can rely on. The composure he demonstrated to score two crucial penalties in the Play-Offs sums up his temperament and I am confident that will play a big role in his recovery from this setback.”
