Scotland manager Steve Clarke has named his squad for the crunch World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Denmark later this month – with Zander Clark returning to the squad ahead of Liam Kelly and Stoke City’s Jacob Brown winning a surprise call-up.

Brown, a 23-year-old forward, came through Barnsley’s Academy and has scored four goals in 19 appearances this season for Michael O’Neill’s side.

The Tartan Army are one win away from securing a playoff spot ahead of next year’s World Cup in Qatar and know that one win from the next two games will keep their dreams of reaching the finals alive.

Lyndon Dykes and Ryan Christie are both suspended for the Moldova game – however the QPR striker was pictured in a protective boot after QPR’s draw with Nottingham Forest on Friday night.

After becoming the first Scot to score in four consecutive internationals since Colin Stein in 1969, Dykes absence will be a big blow for Scotland but the likes of Kevin Nisbet, Che Adams and Brown will be expected to fire Scotlanf to three points.

First up for Scotland is the clash with Moldova at Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau and a playoff spot could be secured even if Clarke’s side fail to win, as long as Israel fail to beat Austria in their penultimate qualifying match.

If second place in the group isn’t secured ahead of the final game, that leaves Scotland needing a result against runaway group winners Denmark in Copenhagen to keep their hopes of reaching a first World Cup since 1998 on track.

Here’s the Scotland squad to face Moldova and Denmark in full:
