Holders St Johnstone kick off their defence of the trophy with a trip to Kelty Hearts or Montrose after the Scottish Cup fourth round draw was made tonight.
The 12 Premiership sides enter the competition at this stage, joining the twenty winners from the third round and there’s the potential for some famous upsets when the fourth round takes place in January.
After knocking out Championship side Hamilton, West of Scotland Auchinleck have been rewarded with a home tie against Premiership Hearts as they hope lightnight strikes twice in this season’s competition.
The draw took place after the Brechin City v Darvel clash at Glebe Park saw the Highland League side come back from a 1-0 half-time deficit to draw level and force a replay against their West of Scotland Premier Division opponents.
Cove Rangers v Queen of the South, Inverness Caledonian Thistle v Greenock Morton and Kelty Hearts v Montrose will all go to a replay after the sides couldn’t be separated at the first attempt over the weekend.
Fixtures take place on the weekend of January 22 and will be the first game back after the winter break for the top-flight sides.
