Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Aberdeen star Ryan Hedges, the EFL side have announced.

Hedges moves to Ewood Park on a three-and-a-half-year with the option of an additional 12 months, becoming Blackburn’s fourth signing of the window after James Brown from Drogheda United, Deyovaisio Zeefuik from Hertha Berlin and Dilan Markanday from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Wales international has scored five times in 22 appearances this season for the Dons but looked set to depart Pittodrie this summer with his contract coming to an end.

His time at Aberdeen saw him make 86 appearances for the Dons, scoring 18 goals, having arrived in the Granite City in the summer of 2019 from Barnsley.

Taking to Twitter after his move was confirmed, Hedges said: “Thank you Aberdeen for the past 2 1/2 years playing for this great club. Thank you to all the fans, staff and players for everything during my time here and I wish the team every success for the future”.

Hedges could make his debut for his new club against Swansea City – the club he started his professional career after his move south.

Aberdeen have confirmed they received an undisclosed fee for Hedges in a brief statement on their own website.
