Dundee United manager Tam Courts was left frustrated as his side failed to take advantage of Melker Hallberg’s dismissal in yesterday afternoon’s clash with St Johnstone as the travelling Arabs fans vented their own feelings at the final whistle.

After a 0-0 draw in Perth, the visiting fans made their feelings known as the bood Courts’ players from the pitch – however the Tannadice boss thinks wins in midweek in the league and next weekend in the Scottish Cup would round out a “really good fortnight” for his side.

“I think for the fans when Saints go down to ten men they are probably thinking ‘here we go, we are going to get the points.’” Courts said.

“When they see us having wave after wave of attack and not getting the breakthrough I can totally understand the frustration.

“The frustration is there for me, for the players even more so.

“But though we are bitterly disappointed, the key thing for me is understanding as long as we peak at the right time, that is what matters.

“We now need to make sure we get three points in midweek  and make sure we get through in the Scottish Cup on Saturday.

“If we do that it will have been a really good fortnight for us.

“I thought we secured the middle of the park with the changes at half time, we were growing into the game and really starting to look like a dominant attacking threat.

“Probably the worst thing that could have happened to us was actually St Johnstone going down to ten men because they have probably then decided that a point is what they were targeting.”

The Arabs face Motherwell on Wednesday night before a Scottish Cup clash with Partick Thistle and the Tannadice side could find themselves level on points with fourth and in the quarter finals of the cup this time next week.

However, two defeats and the pressure will really start to build on Courts as United flirt with undoing all the excellent work from earlier in the season.
