Scotland international Ben Doak is being targeted by Crystal Palace this month as they reportedly lodge a £15m bid for the winger.

Doak is on the books at Liverpool after signing for the Anfield giants in March 2022 but is currently on loan to EFL Championship side Middlesbrough.

Boro secured Doak in the summer after the 19-year-old missed a large chunk of the 2023/24 campaign due to an injury sustained last December.

Doak has been impressive at the Riverside Stadium. He won November’s Championship player of the month award and has delivered seven goal contributions in 20 games this season.

Crystal Palace submit £15m bid for Ben Doak

That form has alerted the attention of Premier League side Crystal Palace who, according to The Sun, have submitted a £15m bid to Liverpool for Doak.

Doak – who narrowly missed out on Scotland’s Euro 2024 squad in the summer – is scheduled to be on loan at Middlesbrough until the end of the season but can be recalled by Liverpool this month.

The report also states that Doak would be open to leaving Anfield in January if he is not given assurances regarding game time.

Michael Carrick on Doak

Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick touched on Doak’s progress at Middlesbrough in November and clearly wants Doak to be at the Riverside until the end of the season.

As per BBC Sport, Carrick said: “There’s no getting away from it, Ben’s having a really good time of it at the moment. He’s playing some good football and looking dangerous.

“The opportunity for him to come here and play and be part of the squad – he’s obviously confident. We know his strengths, it’s pretty obvious what he’s good at and he’s taken that on to Scotland as well.

“We’re really pleased with him, but for us it doesn’t change anything. It’s a long season so we’re certainly not getting carried away but it’s great to see him thriving at the moment.

“Then obviously going to Scotland and having an impact for them, it’s fantastic for Ben and great for us that he’s with us and playing so well.

“We have still got to be careful, he’s still young, we have got to manage him and preparing him for going though the whole season.”
