Dundee defender Antonio Portales is being linked with a transfer back to his homeland.
The 28-year-old joined the Dens Park side from Atlante in 2023 and has been a regular for manager Tony Docherty this season.
Portales has already played 20 games across all competitions and his performances have reportedly caught the eye of Mexican giants Chivas.

Dundee star Antonio Portales linked with Chivas
According to Mexican journalist Kery Ruiz, who specialises in transfer news and following the fortunes of Mexican footballers in Europe, Portales is wanted by Chivas.
But it is being said that Chivas will only move for Portales if their centre-back Jesús Orozco leaves for Mexican rivals Cruz Azul.
As per X account Chivas Universal, Ruiz has stated: “Chivas would be exploring the possibility of signing Antonio Portales, a 28-year-old central defender who currently plays for Dundee FC in Scotland, in case Jesús Orozco Chiquete decides to leave for Cruz Azul.
“Portales, who can also develop as a right back or even a pivot, is an undisputed starter for the Scottish team where he has contributed 5 goals + 3 assists between the league and cup since his arrival to the team in 2023.”
Portales future at Dundee unclear
Portales is a key player for Dundee and it was reported in November that the club had begun talks with him to extend his contract.
That runs out in the summer with Portales hopeful of a resolution: “My contract is up next year, 2025. Right now we have been talking with the club about an extension. Yeah, hopefully we will do it.”
But the interest from Chivas back in his home country could scupper the progress of Dundee contract talks. It remains to be seen whether Chivas will make an official approach.
