Hearts are making several moves to sign players from overseas to strengthen their first-team.

But, having handed plenty of opportunities to youngsters this season, they may be about to show that they are keeping tabs on the best young talent in Scotland too.

Hearts have so far signed striker Elton Kabangu on loan from Union-Saint Gilloise as well as defender Jamie McCart in a permanent deal from Rotherham.

Kabangu has already been answering questions on his future with the Jambos holding an option to buy outright.

Hearts are also close to adding Michael Steinwender, a second centre half recruit who is currently with Swedish side IFK Varnamo.

And the Tynecastle side are in talks with Islam Chesnokov, a Ukrainian winger with Tobol Kostanay in his homeland.

Another signing from a bit closer to home could be about to follow.

Hearts line up Celtic youngster Aiden Haddow

That’s because Hearts are lining up the signing of young midfielder Aiden Haddow, who will be released by Celtic, according to the Daily Record.

The 19-year-old sees his deal come to an end this summer but the Jambos could do the deal this week, it is claimed.

Haddow is a central midfielder who has featured in the Lowland League for Celtic B as well as in the UEFA Youth League, grabbing an assist against Slovan Bratislava.

He signed full-time with the Scottish Champions in 2022 but is now not set to be kept on beyond this year.

Haddow described as ‘technically gifted’

In responding to the news, Celtic fan side Celts Are Here has given the player a glowing endorsement.

They describe Haddow as a ‘technically gifted’ midfielder with an ‘eye for a pass’.

They feel his release from the club presents an ‘excellent opportunity’ for the Tynecastle men to snap up a top talent.

Haddow will initially join up with the Hearts B team, which also competes in the Lowland League.

Neil Critchley has handed plenty playing time to academy graduates Adam Forrester and James Wilson this season, with Macaulay Tait also featuring.
