Your January 5 transfer window update. Not The Old Firm delivers updates concerning Hearts, Hibs, St Mirren and Ross County.
More Hibs transfer activity
Without a doubt, Hibs have been the busiest Premiership side just five days into the January transfer window.
The Leith club have now confirmed that Rory Whittaker has returned to the club after a loan spell with The Spartans.
A statement from the The Spartans read: “The Spartans can confirm that Rory Whittaker has returned to his parent club, Hibernian FC.
“Rory, a product of our Youth Section Player Pathway, made 11 appearances after ‘coming home’ to Ainslie Park. We wish him all the best for the next part of his footballing journey.”
Meanwhile, Malik Zaid has moved out the way to Edinburgh City on loan. Sporting director Malky Mackay said: “This is an opportunity for Malik to kickstart his career by going to a club in a competitive division.
“We wish him the best of luck with the next step in his career.”

Kye Rowles Hearts update
Neil Critchley has confirmed negotiations are taking place over the potential sale of Hearts defender Kye Rowles.
Not The Old Firm exclusively revealed that the Aussie is on the brink of a £600k move to MLS outfit DC United.
Now, Critchley has broke his silence. He said: “We’ve been approached by another club and negotiations are taking place but nothing is agreed at this moment in time, so Kye is still our player and will remain our player until our valuation is met.
“He’s been terrific, I said that to him yesterday. In my time here he’s been brilliant but I know he’s been brilliant previous to that.
“I think he’s played every minute of every game near enough for me and he’s hardly put a foot wrong.
“He’s a very good player, we don’t want to lose our good players but everyone has a price.”
St Mirren lose Ellery Balcombe
St Mirren have confirmed that Brentford have recalled goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe. Balcombe joined the Buddies in the summer on loan but has now returned to the London side.
In a statement, St Mirren wrote: “The goalkeeper joined Saints on loan in the summer with Brentford retaining the option to recall the 25-year-old in January. The Bees have now exercised that option.
“During his time in Paisley, Ellery made 26 appearances and kept three clean sheets.
“St Mirren thanks Ellery for all his contributions during his time at the club and wish him all the very best in his future career.”
