Aberdeen have shaken off a poor start to the season to be right in the thick of the Scottish Premiership title race.
The 3-0 win over Hamilton saw the Dons move to only 3 points behind leaders Celtic.
Perhaps the key man for Derek McInnes’s side in their resurgence is striker Sam Cosgrove.
The big striker scored a double against the Accies, to take his total for the season to 11 goals.
He is arguably also the form player in Scotland, with 9 goals in his last 8 games.
He has overcome a difficult start to his Aberdeen career – no goals last season – to become the main man for the Pittodrie side.
If Aberdeen want to maintain their title ambitions, they need to keep Cosgrove fit.
He is by far their top goalscorer, with Gary Mackay-Steven second top scorer with only 6 goals.
It remains to be seen if Derek McInnes plans to bring in another striker before the end of the January transfer window.
Even if another striker does sign, they would have a hard time taking Cosgrove’s place in the Aberdeen side.
The next test for Cosgrove and his team-mates is in the league upcoming game against 2nd placed Kilmarnock.
A big performance from the striker in that game could be the difference-maker in a huge game at the top of the table.
