Hibs handed Aberdeen another defeat as the two sides’ contrasting runs continued.
The Hibees have now lost just once since the thrilling 3-3 draw with the Dons at Easter Road, while their opponents today are now a remarkable 14 Premiership games without a win.
It had been an even start to the game with not a lot happening and nothing between the sides, but Aberdeen’s defensive frailties came to the fore again.
The first time Hibs threatened saw Martin Boyle force a corner and when it came in, Josh Campbell was free to get to first contact and so was Nectar Triantis to prod it home.
The Dons weren’t offering a lot going forward either and fell further behind early in the second half. Nicky Cadden got on the end of Dwight Gayle’s flick at the back post and nodded in. After a VAR check, it was allowed.
It could have been worse for the visitors but Ross Doohan did well to deny an onrushing Martin Boyle but Hibs didn’t pay for that as they coasted to victory.

Aberdeen’s problems persist
Aberdeen were well in the game until they imploded again and allowed Hibs to take charge.
Statuesque defending was the main feature of the opener and the second wasn’t great either.
Hibs didn’t have to do a whole lot for their three points and that has been the case too often for teams facing the Pittodrie men.
In defence of the Dons, they had almost an entire new backline with new signings Alexander Jensen, Alfie Dorrington and Kristers Tobers in there along with Nicky Devlin playing on his weak side.
They would hope that improves as they play together more often.
Hibs have third in their sights
Reaching third spot is looking more and more possible with every passing win for Hibs, who today received a £1.5million offer from Stoke for Elie Youan.
They are now just four points off Dundee United, who are on the road to Kilmarnock tonight and then face some tricky fixtures in the coming weeks.
As mentioned, the Hibees weren’t particularly brilliant today but did what they had to for an tenth game on the bounce and have that winning habit.
Dons need attacking additions
Jimmy Thelin hinted that it might be difficult for Aberdeen to get more deals done before the deadline.
But they simply must.
Week after week they look impotent in attack and that is five Premiership games without a goal. Nobody watching this one would’ve thought at any stage that they were going to break that duck.
Pape Gueye hasn’t changed much since coming back while Kevin Nisbet hasn’t done much for weeks. They did have guys like Shayden Morris and Duk on the bench but the subs are not having the impact they were earlier in the season.
Some quality in attack is needed before Monday’s deadline.
