Hearts and Hibs played out a ‘mini-derby’ yesterday as the two Edinburgh rivals met in the Reserve Cup.

The game finished 1-1 after normal time, with the Jambos taking the bonus points after a 6-5 penalty shootout victory.

Lewis Moore had the Jambos ahead after six minutes with a lovely volley before Oli Shaw stabbed home the equaliser for Hibs minutes from time.

Several appearances for Hearts and Hibs first-team members

In the Jambos team you had Zdenek Zlamal, who didn’t make a strong case for a recall with a late error. He palmed a Jamie Gullan cross away into the air, which Shaw was able to punish him for.

He did redeem himself somewhat in the shootout, saving Tommy Block’s penalty to hand Hearts a bonus point. Other first-team Hearts players included Craig Wighton, Andy Irving and Aidan Keena.

For Hibs they also named a few names from their senior squad. Shaw dropped back to reserve level once more as he looks to build up minutes after finding himself a bit out of favour this term. He’s played in just the one Premiership game this campaign.

Jason Naismith featured at right-back whilst there was a place for fellow Hibs summer signing Adam Jackson at centre-half.

The Edinburgh pair played out a draw in the end, but Hearts will perhaps feel they have the bragging rights after walking away with a bonus point.
