Aberdeen CEO Alan Burrows has confirmed the club are set to commence contract talks with nine more players.
It’s already been made known that Aberdeen are currently negotiating with Jamie McGrath, Jack MacKenzie, Ante Palaversa and Duk over extending their contracts.
Their deals expire at the end of this season, but Burrows has now pledged to kick-off contract discussions with players whose deals expire following the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign.
These are skipper Graeme Shinnie, Pape Habib Gueye, Ester Sokler, Slobodan Rubezic, Shayden Morris, Dante Polvara, Jack Milne, James McGarry and Vicente Besuijen.

Aberdeen plan more contract talks
As quoted by The Press & Journal, Burrows has said: “The challenge for us is to try and not only look at the contracts of players who are up at the end of this season, but also making sure that we manage the contracts for the players who expire in 18 months’ time as well.
“And to open those discussions early enough to try and get ahead of that situation, too. Obviously there’s a number of players who are out of contract, if not this summer then the following summer.
“So what we’re trying to do is manage the contract situations.”
Alan Burrows hopes Aberdeen quartet stay
Burrows confirmed at Monday’s Aberdeen AGM that the club would like to keep McGrath, MacKenzie, Palaversa and Duk.
MacKenzie has been linked with EFL Championship clubs so his future remains uncertain, while Aberdeen hold the option to extend Palaversa’s contract.
Duk’s future was in serious doubt during the summer when he went AWOL, but he apologised and returned and has contributed to Jimmy Thelin’s team.
Burrows said: “We remain in good dialogue with those players and would like those players to stay at Aberdeen Football Club. But we have also got to factor in Aberdeen and our squad planning for January and in the summer.
“The dialogue remains open and we hope that they will stay. But if in the scenario that they don’t and leave at the end of their contracts, we are planning in advance of that.”
