Aaron Hickey has finally completed his move to Serie A, moving from Hearts to Bologna for an undisclosed fee.
Several teams both north and south of the border have been linked with Hickey, along with a handful of European outfits. The versatile teenager was given a tour of Bayern München’s world-class facilities last month.
But it won’t be the Bavarian giants he moves to, instead opting for Italy with Bologna.
He signs a long-term deal with the Italian top-flight club, going straight into their senior plans for the upcoming season.
An announcement on this has been in the pipeline for some time now, Hickey flying out to Italy weeks ago to complete the transfer. After completing all the neccessary medical tests and paperwork though, he’s finally a Bologna player.
His name first arose to the wider attention of Scottish football when he earned a starting place in the 2019 Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Hearts, aged only 16. In total, Hickey has made 32 maroon appearances.
