Aberdeen and Motherwell have learned their officiating teams for their Premier Sports Cup semi-finals this weekend.

The two best performing Premiership teams outside of the Old Firm have both reached the last four and will get the chance to aim for the final this over the weekend.

Fresh from their brilliant league win over Rangers, the Dons face Celtic at Hampden on Saturday. Fresh in the minds of Jimmy Thelin’s side will be the recent draw against Brendan Rodgers’ side at Parkhead, so they know they can go toe-to-toe with them.

The Steelmen have also enjoyed a stunning start to the season and their 2-1 win over Dundee United has them sitting fourth.

They play Rangers in the second semi-final on Sunday, the team who they sit just two points behind in the league.

Jimmy Thelin Aberdeen title verdict

Jimmy Thelin is STILL refusing to admit Aberdeen are in a title race despite remaining unbeaten after playing both sides of the Old Firm.

They remain level on points with champions and NINE clear of Rangers but the Swedish boss is still playing his cards close to his chest.

He told BBC Sportsound: “No. It’s still early, and we know that, and that’s why we have to stay focused.

“For us, once again, it is about taking three points and we take it game by game. The fans can enjoy today but for us it is about how we recover and have new energy for Saturday.

“You cannot expect things, you have to fight. You have to find different things sometimes and it is the small things in tight games. We fight together and we know if we get the opportunity we have to go for it.

“I am optimistic and positive. We have to support our players and they also have to enjoy tonight then tomorrow we go into the next game.”
