Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin has shared the extent of both Gavin Molloy and Ester Sokler’s respective injuries.

The Swede confirmed after the Dons’ 2-0 loss to Motherwell last weekend that the pair would be set for a long time out.

Molloy wasn’t included in the matchday squad for that game, while striker Sokler had to be substituted out of the previous defeat to Ross County.

Now, Thelin has provided further details to reporters ahead of Aberdeen’s clash with Hearts on Sunday about the duo’s injuries.

Sokler & Molloy injured until March & May respectively

Sokler has been ruled out for around eight weeks with a hamstring tear, while Molloy requires shoulder surgery and won’t be available until at least May.

Thelin reacted to the news, saying: “It’s clearly a big disappointment for us to lose both Gavin and Ester for extended time periods but our medical team will provide excellent guidance and rehabilitation for both players in the next few months to help get them back to fitness as soon as possible.

“We will continue to work to find solutions to help ensure the squad remains competitive and everyone at the club wishes them both a speedy recovery.”

Who else is injured for Aberdeen?

Aberdeen’s treatment room has really started to fill up over the last few weeks or so. Striker Pape Gueye remains sidelined but he should be close to a return.

Moreover, goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov still has around three weeks to go before he can make a return from his latest injury setback.

Vicente Besuijen and Jack Milne are the other absentees for the Dons, however these losses have been offset by the January transfer arrivals of Jeppe Okkels and Kristers Tobers.
