Aberdeen are flying at the start of this season and have won every single game they have played in all competitions.

Jimmy Thelin has breathed new life into the Dons and they sit joint top of the Premiership with Celtic, both with 100 per cent records.

Existing stars like Graeme Shinnie and Jack MacKenzie have contributed massively to that while Pape Gueye came back from a loan spell away looking a different player before his injury. But the recruitment has also played a key part.

There has been known entities like Kevin Nisbet and goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov added to the side but there has also been some who are new to Scottish football, like Topi Keskinen and Sivert Nilsen.

Former Manchester City midfielder Ante Palaversa is yet to start many games but has shown his quality when he has featured and climbed off the bench to fire in the winner against Hearts at the weekend.

Ante Palaversa branded Aberdeen version of Paul Pogba

Dundee United defender Vicko Sevelj already knows all about the 24-year-old having played with him for Croatian side Hajduk Split, from where he was picked up by City.

Sevelj reckons joining him in Scottish football has been the best bet for his old teammate and reckons he can flourish, comparing him to the former Manchester United and Juventus man.

He said: “It is the best option for him. When you go on loan you don’t really settle in. He had had a lot of loans and now he is at one club. He can now show his quality for a few seasons.

“He is an all-round midfielder. He is probably best at box-to-box. He had good technique, tall and strong. He is a bit like Pogba.

“He was our best player at Hajduk Split. He was sold to Manchester City for £8million. He was the captain of our team and the national team. It is very difficult when you go to Manchester City when you are only 18.

“They have such big players and so he had to go on loan to places like Belgium. It is a good decision to come to Aberdeen and Scottish football. I believe he will do well at Aberdeen.”

Aberdeen’s Ester Sokler also known to Dundee United’s Vicko Sevelj

Sevelj also knows Palaversa’s teammate Ester Sokler well, adding: “I went up and met them for lunch. I am looking forward to playing them in October. Yes, I know Ester and Palaversa is an even bigger friend. We were at Hajduk Split for five or six years and for the national team.”
