Michael Stewart says Anders Holch Povlsen investing into Dundee United would be an ‘absolute game changer’ for Scottish football.
With a net worth of $12.4 billion, Holch Povlsen is Denmark’s richest man and is the largest landowner in Scotland.
The 52-year-old was recently credited with an interest in purchasing shares into Dundee United to add to his company’s portfolio.
Holch Povlsen owns FC Midtjylland in his home country but reportedly wants to expand his business interests having also invested in other football clubs around the world.
His company Heartland already has invested into Portuguese side CD Mafra, Nigerian talent academy FC Ebedei and Danish lower league side FC Fredericia.
Holch Povlsen’s interest in United was first heard of in October – but Premier Sports pundit Michael Stewart has revisited the story.

Michael Stewart on Holch Povlsen Dundee United interest
After discussing United’s win over Aberdeen on Sunday, Stewart went on to say that the club’s current feel good factor could be propelled even further if Holch Povlsen was to get involved.
Stewart said: “If Anders Holch Povlsen, mister rich Dane, I saw the story (about his potential investment). Were he to get involved, he’s the richest Dane and biggest private landowner in Scotland.
“Apparently he has a stakeholding in FC Midtjylland back in Denmark. If was to get involved with Scottish football, he’s a game changer, an absolute game changer.
“It would be great to see the likes of a Dundee United having that financial backing. As much as Celtic and Rangers are the two biggest clubs in this country, to have genuine competition from the likes of Aberdeen, Dundee United, Hearts and Hibs, that’s what brings real excitement for the rest of the country.
“And Anders Holch Povlsen could do that.”
Could Dundee United finish 2nd in Premiership?
Stewart went on to say that for him, the most intriguing element of the Premiership season now is who will finish second come May.
United are now just five points behind Rangers with Aberdeen just three in front. And Stewart thinks there isn’t a lot between the three sides.
He said: “Obviously the fact that he’s (Jim Goodwin) a former Aberdeen manager, he’s come away from that game with a real good feeling in terms of getting one over on the Dons and close the gap in that battle for second spot.
“Look, there’s not a great deal between Dundee United, Aberdeen and Rangers. For me, that is clearly the focus and interest for this season.
“Can Aberdeen and Dundee United mount a challenge with Rangers to try and get that second spot, that’s where the interest is going to be.”
