Andy Halliday has signed a one-year deal with Hearts following his exit from Rangers.

The versatile player, who operated as a left-back and central midfielder for Rangers, left the team he supported as a boy following the conclusion of the 2019/20 season.

He’s been in the free agency market ever since and Robbie Neilson has moved to bring him to Tynecastle. He’ll add experience to the new Jambo boss’ side ahead of the new term.

Halliday started his professional career at Livingston before a move south with Middlesbrough beckoned in the summer of 2010.

He would spend five years down south contracted to Boro, taking in loan spells with Bradford City, Blackpool and Walsall.

Rangers was his next permanent club in 2015 and he’s been with them ever since, outside a bizarre move to Azerbaijan on loan.

Now he joins his third SPFL side as he looks to help Hearts make an instant return to the Premiership. They start their season on October 6th in the League Cup against Inverness.
