Dundee United won’t be losing Lawrence Shankland to Burnley if Clarets boss Sean Dyche’s recent comments are anything to go by.
The Premier League club were linked with an interesting deal for the talented Tangerines frontman. It was said that Burnley were keen on a season-long loan move for Shankland that would pocket the Tannadice club £500k.
Now a Scotland international, Shankland hasn’t been short of interest despite only joining Dundee United from Ayr United last summer. So far in Tayside, the forward has netted 30 goals in 38 games.
It’s lead to numerous teams north and south of the border being linked with his signature. Burnley are the latest and they are also said to be keeping tabs on another United frontman.
Logan Chalmers has started life under new manager, former Burnley player Micky Mellon, very well and it’s attracted reported interest from the Premier League. But nothing will happen by end of play today as Dyche rules out any fresh activity at Turf Moor.

“I don’t think they are that important to us,” said Dyche on the final days of transfer activity (Lancashire Live).
“I don’t think there will be anything happening.
“People do forget, because of the amount of injuries, you can lose sight of where the group is and when we get everyone fit and look at the squad then we might be one or two, possibly three at a stretch, short but generally I think you would think it was a rounded squad.”
