David Gray has guaranteed there will be more ins and outs this January after a busy start to the transfer window for Hibs.

The Easter Road club have yet to make a signing but have let three of their stars go within the first few days of the window opening.

Jake Doyle-Hayes agreed to the termination of his contract, while Josh O’Connor has joined Crusaders and Nohan Kenneh moves back up to Ross County on loan.

Gray was quizzed by Sky Sports on Friday on how many signings he thinks could be made by Hibs this month – but he refused to put a number on it.

Instead, he simply guaranteed there will be more ins and outs at Leith.

Gray talks Hibs transfer plans

After winning the Premiership’s December manager of the month award, Gray said: “I don’t think you can really put a number on it. I think naturally with the window opening, there will be ins and outs. There’s obviously been a few outs straight away.

“The work’s been going on tirelessly for a number of weeks now, we’re always looking to be proactive because you never know what could come up.

“We’ve always said if the right deal can be done, the club have been very supportive in trying to make the squad better, and if it can be done then I’m sure we’ll do that.

“We’ve also got a lot of injuries to come back as well. Even if you look at the matchday squad yesterday and the amount of big names that have been missing that are due to come back pretty soon.

“When you add them back to the group then we are in a healthy position. It’s now about maintaining that momentum and positivity going forward.”

Gray previews ‘really tough’ Rangers test

On facing Rangers at Easter Road on Sunday, Gray said: “It will be really tough. Naturally as well with the amount of fixtures over the festive period as well. It is hard to go back to back and it will be the second week of doing that.

“It will be a really good game to look forward to and the last place Rangers would want to come to right now is the in-form team in the league which is ourselves.

“That is the confidence we need to take from that. Yes, they are off the back of a fantastic win in the Old Firm game but we need to take confidence from the position we have put ourselves in and how we have been playing of late.

“It will be tough but if we can play to the best of our ability we know we are a match for any one.
