Dundee have confirmed the loan signing of Mexican youngster Cesar Garza on a year-long loan deal from CF Monterrey.

It’s the Dens Park club’s second signing confirmation since the close of the summer transfer window having brought in defender Sean Kelly in November.

Tony Docherty is wasting no time in strengthening his squad and will welcome Garza to Dundee officially when the January transfer window opens next week.

Dundee sign Cesar Garza on loan from CF Monterrey

Announcing the imminent arrival of Garza, Dundee wrote on their official website: “Dundee Football Club is delighted to announce that Mexican midfielder Cesar Garza is currently en route from his home country to join the Dees on a yearlong loan deal when the January transfer window opens, subject to international clearance and being granted the necessary visa.

“Cesar will join us from leading Liga MX side CF Monterrey, with whom the club has a strategic partnership.

“The defensive midfielder came through the youth academy at Monterrey and played for their under 23’s side before being promoted to the senior squad. He made his debut for Rayados in October 2023 and has played twelve times scoring once.

“His first goal came in a 3-0 win against Santos Laguna. The nineteen-year-old has international experience for Mexico Under 20’s and was part of the team that won the CONCACAF Under 20 Championship this year.

“Cesar is expected to meet his new teammates including fellow countryman Antonio Portales on Monday. Once available for selection, César will wear the number 14 jersey for the Dark Blues.

“Welcome to the Dee Cesar!”

Cesar Garza set for big Dundee step

At just 19, this is a massive leap for Garza as he aims to further his career in the Premiership with Dundee.

He has been given a big send-off by his family who made him a special Dundee-themed cake to celebrate the move to the northern hemisphere.
