Dundee managed a crucial win over St Mirren yesterday as they yo-yo season continues.
The 2-1 victory over the Buddies put to an end a three-match losing streak as they failed to score against Hearts, Rangers and Ross County.
Just to highlight the Dundee’s inconsistency, that run followed a brilliant 4-1 win over Motherwell.
Yesterday’s three points keep them in eighth and they have a game in hand over seventh-placed Hibs, while they are just five points away from the top six.
However, Tony Docherty is short of bodies amid an injury crisis and could lose two more players in January.

Seun Adewumi Dundee loan set to expire
Seun Adewumi has proved to be a real livewire and attacking threat since making a loan move from Dundee’s partner club Burnley.
Two Premiership goals in ten games doesn’t tell the full story as the attacker has become a fan favourite with his exciting displays.
But the 19-year-old’s loan agreement only lasts until January and The Courier are reporting the exact date of expiry is the 12th of the month.
That would make him available for Thursday’s derby against Dundee United and league games against St Johnstone and Rangers.
While Dundee are said to be hopeful of striking an extension to the loan until the end of the season, no agreement has yet been reached with Burnley.
Sean Kelly could leave Dundee too
Amid a defensive injury crisis, Docherty brought in former St Mirren and Livingston man Sean Kelly.
At that point the Dee boss had lost Clark Robertson and Ziyad Larkeche to injury but that worsened when Antonio Portales was ruled out for six weeks.
To make matters worse, Jordan McGhee and Billy Koumetio both had to be subbed off against St Mirren with a prognosis to follow.
They could be a further man short with Kelly’s deal to expire on January 2, after the derby.
With the lack of options available at Dens Park, it would not be a shock to see Kelly signed on an extended deal.
