Dundee boss James McPake has confirmed that striker Cillian Sheridan will be out for the rest of the season after the Republic of Ireland international ruptured his Achilles tendon in the 1-0 win over St Mirren last weekend.
Sheridan was stretchered off as he made just his second start for McPake’s side, with the Dens Park boss admitting he is “gutted” for the former Celtic striker.

The Irishman has had a steady start to life with the Dee but now faces months on the sideline as his teammates fight for survival in the Premiership.
McPake is confident Sheridan will return to his best before long though as Sheridan prepares to start rehabbing his injury.
“It looks like it’ll probably be the season,” the Dundee manager said.
“It’s a nasty injury and it will be long-term. We’re gutted for him. It is a bad one for him and for us.
“He got in behind St Mirren and the way he stretched the game was key for us on Saturday.
“He did well in the game but we’ll get him right, we’ll get him back.”
Sheridan has made a total of eleven appearances for Dundee, after moving to Dens Park on a two-year deal from Polish Wisla Plock.

For his part, the striker tried to see the bright side as he prepares for months out of action, joking that once he returns it will be renamed the “Acillians Tendon” rather than the Achilles.
