Jim Goodwin has praised Dundee United’s defensive resilience against Celtic which led to them achieving an impressive feat at Tannadice.
The Terrors withheld immense pressure from the visitors to secure a brilliant point as the Premiership clash finished 0-0.
As expected, Dundee United had to defend for much of the game and it’s not very often Celtic are denied a goal in the top-flight this season.
In fact, this was the first time Celtic failed to score a goal in a Premiership encounter this season and the first time they failed to win away from home in the league.
Goodwin was keen to make that stat known in his post-match interview to the BBC and said as a result, his United players deserve immense credit for their efforts.

Goodwin reacts to Dundee United point vs Celtic
United remain in 5th after the point as Goodwin said: “It’s a really well-earned point from our perspective. We knew how difficult it was going to be.
“Celtic are a really, really good team and tactically, the manager asks you questions that you don’t often experience most weeks.
“The discipline, organisation and concentration levels from the team, that’s what it was going to take in order for us to take a positive result.
“Of course, we don’t want to play that way in every game we play in because obviously we want to offer a bit more of an attacking threat.
“But you’ve got to respect the opposition and the quality of player they’ve got and today was about discipline and organisation.
“I thought we had two or three half-decent breakaways that unfortunately we just didn’t really do enough with. There was a couple of second-half goalmouth scrambles as well.
“Listen, if you’d have offered me a clean sheet before the game, I’d have snapped the hand off you.
Celtic, prior to today, have won in their previous eight games in the league away from home, so we’re the first team in the country to stop them doing that which I suppose the team deserve a huge amount of credit for.”
Goodwin hails two unsung Dundee United heroes
“Defensively I thought we were excellent. Obviously the back four and the goalkeeper usually get a lot of credit for that, but the work rate of Sam Dalby and Miller Thompson at the top end of the pitch, sometimes that can go unnoticed.
“I just thought there was a real determination and resilience from the group. It’s not the first time we’ve had to show that this season.
“To go from that last week (against Motherwell) conceding four to this against the best team in the country and keeping a clean sheet, I think it’s a great turnaround in a week’s time.”
