Hibs striker Florian Kamberi had delivered an update on his short-term future that’ll please Hibees everywhere.

A recent Daily Record report claimed that Swiss giants Basel are lining up a £2 million bid for the forward. The 24-year-old moved to Leith from Grasshoppers last year.

He’s already being touted with a move back to his homeland. Kamberi has said that whilst he doesn’t know what the future holds, in the meantime, his focus is scoring for Hibs.

He told the Daily Record: “I deal with speculation really well. Every player has his ambitions but I’m happy playing here and scoring goals.

“You never know what is going to happen in the future but the talk of big-money move is a motivation. It shows I’m doing something right. I’m working hard and it’s paying off.

“All this is not in my hands. My job is to work on the pitch for Hibs and score goals to help the team.”

Kamberi seems keen to deliver for Hibs rather than dwell on the future

After reported interest from a club like Basel, it’d be easy for Kamberi to just throw in the towel to force a move. It’s credit to him that he clearly wants to keep striving for success.

The Swiss talisman turned in another decent performance against Morton, netting twice. It was an exciting game to say the least, with the match eventually finishing 5-3 after extra time.

His relationship with Scott Allan is building nicely again. The pair have already connected to score three goals this season.

Kamberi is vital to Hibs right now. Christian Doidge is taking a bit of time to settle in the SPFL, whilst Oli Shaw looks like he needs a spell away from Leith.

That leaves just Kamberi with the task of scoring the goals for Paul Heckingbottom. He’s doing a decent job so far, scoring four in six games.

He seems keen to deliver for Hibs, leaving all the speculation on the side. Kamberi won’t be at Hibs forever, but while he is, it seems like the 24-year-old only has goals on his mind.
