Aberdeen had Ross Doohan to thank as they avoided losing a sixth game in a row.
The Dons drew 0-0 in this afternoon’s home game with Hearts in game lacking in quality from either side.
After starting the better side, the home side allowed their visitors into it more and it was probably the Jambos who had the better chances in the second half.
Indeed, they had a glorious one right at the death after Sivert Heltne Nilsen brought down Kenneth Vargas in the box in stoppage time.
Jorge Grant stepped up for the visitors but watched on in horror as stand-in keeper Doohan threw himself to his right to make a brilliant save and divert the ball onto the post.
Manager Jimmy Thelin was pleased his side managed to stop the losing run and was especially chuffed with Doohan.

Thelin ‘wants to hug’ Aberdeen’s Ross Doohan
It was for that reason of halting the downward momentum that the Dons No2’s stoppage time save was so important.
And his manager was dying to give him a hug after the game!
Thelin said: “You have to stop losing and start building from somewhere.
“So when you get a penalty against you in the 93rd minute and Ross saves it, it’s a really good feeling.
“It was a really important save and we have to try to build on that positive moment.
“Ross played well and is doing the right things.
“When you make that save in the 93rd minute in the run we are on, you just want to hug him and say ‘thank you so much’.
“With where we are right now was such an important moment as we try to get more consistent.
“We saw positive signs for the team.”
Aberdeen’s new signings rated
Aberdeen had two signings, centre-back Kristers Tobers and winger Jeppe Okkels, starting after completing their moves to Pittodrie this week.
Tobers was assured at the back and did nothing wrong as Hearts failed to truly trouble the backline, but Okkels was quieter on the flank.
Assessing his new boys, Thelin said: “The new players arrived and did really well so that’s a good start for the rest part of the season.
“Kristers is a calm player who can organise a team.
“We have to have in mind that we also have to take him off.
“He has come in from between seasons so didn’t train so much.
“We have to be careful about him but he is in a new team and after one-and-a-half sessions came in and gave that very good performance.
“The same thing with Jeppe.
“Jeppe took responsibility but didn’t get the perfect opportunities.”
