Jimmy Thelin has put Aberdeen’s defeat against Motherwell down to a crazy 10 minutes that saw them concede twice and receive a red card.
Motherwell deserved their 2-0 win against a Dons side who have now failed to win any of their last 10 games in the Premiership.
Ewan Wilson and Tawanda Maswanhise punished poor Aberdeen defending in the first-half, with a red card for Slobodan Rubezic for a headbutt on Tony Watt sandwiched in between both strikes.
Thelin fully understands that they need to improve defensively but remains fairly optimistic that the team’s fortunes can change.

Thelin rues Aberdeen defending amid chaotic 10 minutes
He told Premier Sports after the defeat: “I think we have played two games now in a row quite well in some parts but 10 minutes in both of these games, we lose the game with a bad run for 10 minutes.
“Motherwell scores the goals and it’s similar to Ross County in some ways. That’s one thing we have to try and find a way out from because we start the game pretty well, we control parts of the game.
“And then suddenly it’s 2-0 from nothing. There’s still no other way other than working through it and staying strong and also try to improve the parts inside the team.
“I know 100 percent sure we are going to find a way out but right now is the difficult time. We have to believe and try even more and try to find a way out.
“The problem we have in this run is how to defend. There’s so many goals against us and it’s difficult to win football games when we start 1-0 or 2-0 down.
“Then the stress starts to come in so for us, we need to stabilise the team now and keep working.”
Thelin’s asks Aberdeen fans to keep ‘believing’
After saying that he hasn’t seen the Rubezic red card incident back and thus could not give an opinion on it, the Swede delivered a message to the Aberdeen fans.
He said: “Never stop believing. We are on a really difficult part right now. There was so many supporters here today and they stayed until the end.
“They have to keep believing and stay together. I think that’s the most important thing right now, to stay strong again.”
