Dundee’s Celtic loanee Jonathan Afolabi and St Johnstone’s Danny McNamara have been called up to the Republic of Ireland U21s squad.

Afolabi has two caps at U21s level but has now earned a recall. He has scored once since switching Celtic Park for Dundee in the summer on loan, scoring once so far.

The Irish striker joined Celtic last summer from Southampton. He enjoyed a loan spell at fellow Championship side Dunfermline last term and he’s picked up where he left off at Dens Park.

McNamara meanwhile earns a call as he continues to thrive at St Johnstone. The young right-back joined the Saints on loan from Millwall in the summer and is now a first-team regular.

Both Celtic and Millwall loanees will now join up with the Irish side for games against Iceland and Luxembourg.

Before that though, Afolabi will take on Alloa as Dundee look to bounce back from their 1-1 draw with Raith Rovers tonight whilst McNamara’s St Johnstone face Kilmarnock.
