Jonathan Afolabi is looking forward to the ‘high standards’ at Dundee after completing a loan move from Celtic.
The Irish youth international has joined the Dens Park club on a season-long loan as he departs Celtic Park for regular minutes at senior level.

Last season he spent the second half of the term at fellow Championship club Dunfermline prior to the curtailment of the 2019/20 campaign.
But given the formidable options Celtic have in attack, first-team football in Glasgow wasn’t likely to come for Afolabi this season. James McPake has moved in to get him that experience and bolster his attacking options ahead of the new Championship season.
Afolabi made a good first impression in Tayside, scoring on his friendly debut against Peterhead earlier this week. The striker says that whilst the move was halted for a short while, he’s happy to have finally made the switch.
“Very good to get it over the line finally and to get some first team action this season so I’m looking forward to it,” said Afolabi (Dee TV). “There was a bit of delay but I’m delighted to get it over the line now.”
“It was nice to get the goal, delighted with myself and delighted with the team and the way we played. There are obviously very high standards here so we have to keep it up. It’s been good, I’ve only trained once but it was a decent standard, there are some quality lads here.
“There are a lot of fixtures coming up so I think we will be ready for every single one. It was tough coming back, we had to be distance from each other and there was only limited numbers training.

“So we did a lot of fitness work and put in the hard yards to get the rewards and I guess it’s paying off now.”
