Hibs have confirmed the signing of Forest Green Rovers striker Christian Doidge, much to the delight of some Hibs fans.

He joins the Easter Road side on a three-year deal for what the club are saying is an undisclosed fee.

On paper this looks like a decent move overall, with Doidge proving himself to be prolific at most of the clubs he’s been at so far.

Some Hibs fans have reacted to his unveiling.

Doidge will excite Hibs fans

The last time he made a step up the footballing ladder, it didn’t end so well for the Welshman. He scored one goal in 17 appearances during a loan spell in the Championship with Bolton in the first half of 2018/19.

Apart from that barren run, Doidge has been pretty prolific wherever he has went. In total he has scored 97 goals in his career at club level.

He’s an old fashioned number nine. Put it on a plate for him and he’ll find the net with ease. It’ll be up to the likes of Daryll Horgan and Scott Allan to provide him with the service he needs.

If he receives that he’ll score goals. Hibs fans will be excited by Doidge, simply for the fact that once he starts scoring, he never looks likely to stop.

This a decent acquisition overall for Hibs. Hopefully this step up in quality works out for him, as he has the potential to become a top striker at a high level.
