There’s plenty of loan movement expected at Leeds United this month, Tyler Roberts and Jordan Stevens two more players potentially heading for a temporary Elland Road exit. Edmondson may be able to call his return off.
The Dons are said to be interested in extending the striker’s Pittodrie loan stay, with current arrangements meaning he will go back before the end of January, Edmondson’s Leeds contract expiring at the end of this season. Aged 19, he has made 15 appearances with two goals and two assists but nothing is agreed yet.
Derek McInnes has already lost Marley Watkins following an injury to the Bristol City loanee while Sam Cosgrove and Curtis Main have struggled for fitness at various stages this season.
Meanwhile, striker Bruce Anderson has been recalled from his loan spell at Ayr United and midfielder Miko Virtanen has been brought back to Pittodrie from Arbroath. Promising star Calvin Ramsay has also signed a new deal until 2024.
McInnes believes the teenage right-back has a big future: “Calvin is a young player who has real potential. We see him as an attacking full back, or wing back and I’m delighted both he and his family think staying at Aberdeen is the right thing to do.
“Like everything else for talented youngsters, it is important that they use the security of the contract and they knuckle down and work hard. He must put everything into trying to fulfil that potential because he is a player who we think has got a really good chance of achieving his ambitions to be a first team player for this Club.”
