Hibs have a number of players out contract in the summer and discussions are likely to be underway in the background.

Winger Martin Boyle is one of those players and admitted in February that he had not entered into discussions with Hibs over a new deal.

However, the Aussie did confirm that he is open to staying at Easter Road because the club is very close to his heart having enjoyed two spells in Leith.

David Gray has remained coy over Boyle’s future, but did confess that his personal relationship with the 31-year-old could help in any negotiations had.

Tam McManus wants Martin Boyle to take Hibs wage cut

Ex-Hibs striker Tam McManus has been speaking about Boyle, days after the Australia international scored for his country against Indonesia in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.

And he told PLZ Soccer that he would like to see Boyle stay at Easter Road – but not on the same weekly wage he earns at the moment.

McManus said: “Yes, but maybe not on the same terms he is on. I believe he is one of the highest earners at the club. Obviously he went to Saudi and came back and I believe he’s on good money.

“I think he had a poor start to the season and by his own admission he would admit that. But certainly in the last couple of months he has looked like the Martin Boyle of old.

“He looks more mobile and has got his yard of pace back and is scoring and creating goals. I think that if the deal is right for everyone, then you would give him another year.

“But Martin is coming to the time of his career where he maybe fancies something different. He is obviously an Australia international and there has been a lot of rumours about him maybe going over there to play.

“If Hibs can keep him it will be good, but I think it will be down to Martin if he wants to stay or if he sees something else.”

Rocky Bushiri has held Hibs contract talks

Elsewhere, defender Rocky Bushiri has been speaking to the press ahead of Hibs’ home Premiership clash against St Johnstone on Saturday.

And naturally, the DR Congo man was quizzed on his own future given his current contract expires at the end of the campaign.

Bushiri has addressed his future before and was the subject of a failed transfer bid on January transfer deadline day.

Now, he has confirmed talks are taking place, but nothing has been decided yet: “If I’m honest, I don’t know what the future looks like. But I hope it’s a positive future.

“Could it be here at Hibs – why not? I’ve had talks with the club and the manager over the last few months. There hasn’t been an official offer yet, but we have had discussions.

“I think it was clear (there was interest) in the last window. But it was rejected by Hibs. It’s not always a bad thing when things get rejected, so we will see now what’s going to happen.

“It’s an important step now, but it has to be good for myself and for the club.”
