Hibs showed resilience and character to bounce back twice and earn a point against high-flying Aberdeen on Tuesday night.
And while Michael Stewart commended his former team for showing those battling qualities, he still thinks there are massive issues for Hibs to sort in the January transfer window.
Stewart was speaking on BBC Sportsound and slammed the club’s recruitment over a period of time where since 2019, they’ve sacked five permanent managers.
And he suggests now is the time to scour the domestic market and bring in players from Scotland who would make the current Hibs squad ‘infinitely better’.

Stewart commends Hibs character
After watching the thrilling 3-3 draw between Hibs and Aberdeen on Tuesday, Stewart said: “For Hibs, if that (result) doesn’t galvanise them, then nothing will. That was a performance that showed a bit of grit and determination.
“They had plenty slaps in the face there where we’ve seen them buckle and disappear before, but they kept at it tonight and they’ve managed to get a point from it.
“And they don’t use that as some sort of springboard then I don’t know what will.”
But Hibs advised to recruit within SPFL
Stewart went on: “But as I said before, there are some serious, serious issues in that team in terms of lack of quality and mistakes that are made consistently by a number of people.
“And I don’t know how you get round that until you recruit better in January. Hibs over the last four or five years have gone so off tangent and brought in players from all over the place.
“And invariably, they are not good enough. There are domestic players here who would walk into that Hibs team and make them infinitely better and they need to find their identity again, which comes down to proper recruitment.”
